Fragrant Engagement

Last weekend, we had the most incredible smelling flowers for a special engagement party. In typical Vietnamese tradition, the groom's family provides gifts for the bride's family, before she leaves her family to move in with the in-laws. Today, this is mostly symbolic and represented by a groom bringing a bouquet of flowers to the bride's family as an offering. Oh, and perhaps a roasted pig thrown in for good measure.

This sweet smelling bouquet included creamy garden roses and mint leaves, dappled with thistle and ranunculus for color. Dusty miller provided bulk and some additional structure. And while round bouquets are slowly going out of fashion, I couldn't help falling in love with this one.  Hope you enjoy it too!

These cute little bouts were similarly made of thistle, ranunculus and roses.
